“It’s a floor wax and a dessert topping” is a fantastic metaphor, but only if the person you’re addressing has actually seen the classic Saturday Night Live commercial parody from the 1970s. Otherwise, it makes you sound like a raving lunatic.
I think it stands alone just fine – I didn’t know it was from a SNL skit.
